The stark contrast between light and dark in I. M. Pei's Louvre Extension adds drama when viewers enter the gallery space via the spiral staircase into exhibition rooms.
I really admire the way Louis Kahn has controlled the light. The barrel vault ceiling is illuminated by natural light that creeps from the specially designed 'screens' giving the gallery space a warm glow.
